Biofilters
The fundamental principle of biological control of air pollution is that gaseous pollutants are used by microbes as a source of food, so after they are consumed, they are transformed into harmless end-products of metabolism (CO2, H2O)
Biofilters mainly eliminate soluble organic compounds such as alcohols, aldehydes and ketones, as well as a wide variety of odorous gases such as hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, organic sulfur compounds, etc.
Advantages
- Compared to other deodorant systems, biofiltershave lower operating costs and low or no chemical use.
- Although they require a large surface operation area, they can be designed in any shape to suit the conditions of the available installation space.
- Different filler materials and bacteria can be used so that the biofilter can efficiently neutralize a wide variety of different substances.
